Fitting in with the natural ebb and flow of the seasons certain things, other than the flora and fauna, change on the park throughout the year. Most notable of these to the visitor are the opening and closing times of the visitor centre, car park, tearooms, the bus timetable and the time and day of public planetarium shows. Please consult the information on these to avoid a wasted or truncated visit.
Throughout the summer months we have the wonderful presence of the site beehive in the Gift Shop, where visitors can observe honeybees in their natural habitat: foraging for food, breeding and making honey.
During the spring and summer months we have nesting birds on view with our bird box webcam, showing live video of the development of broods of chicks from eggs to fledglings. A real life soap opera that’s mesmerising to watch!
The tearooms also have seasonal menus as they use natural, locally sourced produce in all that they prepare.
Care should be taken on some walks during the inclement months, particularly for the less able bodied visitor, please review our maps and walks section to assess any potential hazards.
The park shows different aspects of it’s natural beauty throughout the seasons, from the full leafy green summer buzzing with wildlife through to the stark snow covered landscape of winter, all sights that frequent visitors will be familiar with. If you’ve visited in one season please come again to see what delights are on offer at other times of the year.
