Wynyard Woodland Park is bounded on all sides by farmland, private woodland and private residences. Stockton Borough Council request that all visitors to the park respect the rights of our neighbours and do not trespass on land not owned by the park. Visitors are encouraged to view site maps before venturing out into the countryside and inadvertently causing problems for the locals.
The neighbouring area of Thorpe Thewles is a rural community with many farms that have livestock and slow moving agricultural machinery. The park exists in symbiosis with this community and so to continue to enjoy the natural environment we must all respect their needs. For example, by being patient with and giving way when necessary to agricultural vehicles and by keeping dogs on a lead and under control so as not to worry farm animals.
Wynyard Estate also bounds the park in some areas, some of this land is being developed into a housing development and some will remain tied to the Hall. Visitors are requested to stay on public rights of way in these areas to avoid disturbing neighbouring residences. The same level of consideration is politely requested for residents of the hamlet of Grindon and those houses near the visitors centre. When driving a vehicle in these areas, please bear in mind that many of the lanes are not adopted by the local highways authority and moderate you driving accordingly. Indeed, in many cases, it is the local residents that maintain these lanes for their use and your enjoyment so please show appropriate respect and consideration to them.
